Here are some interesting links to various websites to help you with studying and research!

Britannica Encyclopedia - The most famed of encyclopedia makers has a Web site, allowing you to either read the top news stories, or go on an exploration of whatever topic interests you. Clicking a topic of interest, such as History, brings you a page with news, chats, books, other Web sites, and a fold-down menu of narrower topics that will take you to the encyclopedia's articles. Note: there is a fair amount of advertising.

Canadian Search Engines

Google University Search - Google has a separate search section that will search the web pages of the major universities.

HighBeam Research - Named the "Best Online Reference" by the CODiE Awards, HighBeam is a premiere online library where you can find research, facts, and articles. They collect millions of articles from newspapers and journals and deliver all of this in a single research Web site.

HyperHistory - HyperHistory presents 3,000 years of world history with a combination of colorful graphics, lifelines, timelines, and maps. Over 2,000 files are interconnected throughout the site. In addition to that HyperHistory provides several hundred links to the world wide web.

Library of Congress:  Geography & Maps - Site contains the largest and most comprehensive cartographic collection in the world with collections numbering over 4.5 million maps including 60,000 atlases, 6,000 reference works, numerous globes and plastic relief models, and a large number of cartographic materials in other formats, including electronic.

Navigator - Navigator is used by the New York Times newsroom as a starting point for searching the Web, and what a starting point it is.

Online Books - This local index includes more than 13,000 English works in various formats that meet these criteria. All should be free for personal, noncommercial use. You can: search listings by author and title, browse new listings, browse by author, browse by title, browse by subject, browse serial archives.

Online Reference - Whether you're researching for school, writing a term paper, or simply looking to learn, this site will provide you with very powerful tools.

Pics4Learning - This collection is intended to provide copyright friendly images for use by students and teachers in an education setting. Images in the Pics4Learning collection may be used by teachers and students in print, multimedia, and video productions.

Quiz Me BC - An interactive engine designed to help students practice for their provincial exams. Here, you'll find a database of questions from the last two years' provincial exams in the following subjects:
- Biology 12
- Chemistry 12
- Principals of Math 12
- Physics 12

This site is put together by two Grade 12 students from Heritage Park Secondary School in Mission, B.C. with some acknowledged support from teaching staff. Students can-choose to do a real-time quiz, with online answers, or-print the questions with an answer key. Though there is-no feedback with the answers, they will highlight areas that-need review before the final exam.

Reference Desk - Want to find a fact? This is the place to come with facts on just about anything.

Search EBooks - Search for words/phrases in books published in web page form on the internet.

Search Edu - Search for educational information in over 20 million university and education pages indexed and ranked in order of popularity.

Brainpop - Online cartoon movies on health, science and technology with other activities.

Canadian Citizenship Practice Test - The Richmond Public Library has created this practice test to help individuals prepare for and write the Canadian Citizenship Test. The questions are based on those found in the book A Look at Canada.

Driving Practice - From the Richmond Public Library, the Driving Test is made up of over 80 multiple-choice questions and answers to help new drivers prepare for the written part of the B.C. Learner's license application. It is designed to be a fun way to learn the rules, complete with honking horns and crash sounds. Visitors can choose up to 80 questions at a time with scores and the correct answers displayed upon completion.
