Bursaries
A bursary is a non-repayable, taxable grant usually awarded to students who demonstrate financial need. Bursaries supplement students' primary sources of funding such as employment income, parental/spousal contribution and scholarships. A student must apply for a student loan first, before they apply for a bursary from a post-secondary institute. Secondary schools may have community bursaries (based on financial need) that do not require a student to apply for a student loan.
Many of the links on the scholarship page provide information on bursaries. A Google search such as "BC Bursaries" will generate more sources. Some examples of hits include BC Health Care, Minerva, Mutual Fire and Royal Canadian Legion.
Students are encouraged to visit the school Career Centres for additional information and assistance.
