Career Technical Consortium (CTC)
Career Technical programs allow students the opportunity to earn post-secondary course credits while in high school. Students are enrolled as both post-secondary and secondary school students. The credits they earn are applied towards high school graduation and a post-secondary program. The South Fraser Career Technical Consortium is a partnership between Kwantlen Polytechnic University and the Delta, Langley, Richmond and Surrey School Districts.
CTC transition programs lead to post secondary studies in areas other than the skilled trades. Transition programs for technical training for skilled trades are covered under ACE IT.
The benefits of taking a Career/Technical Transition Program include:
- Secondary school credits towards graduation and post-secondary credits towards a diploma or certificate
- Introduction to a post-secondary environment
- Tuition fees are paid by the School District
- Opportunity to take courses not normally available through secondary school classes
There is a rigorous interview process as seats are limited.
Grade 12 Enhancement
Under a partnership agreement with Kwantlen Polytechnic University, Grade 12 students in the Delta School District may enroll in Kwantlen open access registration courses. Students may enter the program in the Fall (September) or Spring (January) semesters of each academic year.
Delta has 12 seats available on each the Surrey and Richmond campuses. The following limitations apply:
- a maximum of two students in the same course section
- a maximum of one course per student per semester.
The Grade 12 Enhancement program offers special monitoring and personal service for all enhancement program students. All course selections and applications must be approved by the Dean of the respective course department.
Students will be responsible to cover applicable fees and tuition costs.
All completed applications, application fees and course selections must be received by the Enrolment and Registrar Services Office by June 15 for the Fall semester and October 15 for the Spring Semester. The Career Advisor in each secondary school will work with eligible students to complete the registration process.
