Montessori Kindergarten Registration for 2012-2013 begins on February 21, 2012 at Devon Gardens Elementary
The Delta School District offers a Montessori program at Devon Gardens Elementary. The Montessori Method of teaching aims for the fullest possible development of the whole child, ultimately preparing the child to be a well-rounded contributing member of society. The physical, mental, emotional, social, and spiritual development of the child is intertwined.
A Montessori classroom has a busy, productive atmosphere where everything in the room has a specific use or purpose. Everything can be seen and touched by the children and all of the furniture and equipment are scaled down to the children's size. Subject areas are presented in an integrated manner using concrete materials that allow for both independent research and group work. Montessori classes do not rely on textbooks, nor do they have individual desks or set seating plans. Creating a hands-on environment where children utilize concrete materials to learn at their own pace, allows children to development personalized learning styles, enabling them to reach their full potential.
Our Montessori program is offered at the elementary level in grades K-3.
