Heath and Career Education K-7
The health and career curriculum makes a unique contribution to the development of students as well-rounded individuals. It compliments the rest of the K to 7 curriculum by focusing on students' personal development and how school and extra-curricular activities relate to their future plans.
The aim of Health and Career K to 7 is to enable students to become thoughtful, caring individuals who plan and reflect, make informed choices and take responsibility for their own personal and career development.
Key Components
The provincially prescribed learning outcomes for Health and Career K to 7 are grouped under three broad curriculum organizers:
Goals and Decisions
Includes goal setting strategies, development of decision making skills and recognition of support networks.
Career Development
Includes recognizing personal attributes and relating them to school and potential careers, work and job classification, work habits and transferable skills.
Health
Includes healthy living, healthy relationships, safety and injury prevention and substance misuse prevention.
