Delta Dance Academy Wins at Extreme Dance Competition

The Delta School District Dance Academy, located at Delta Secondary School in Ladner, placed first in every category they entered at the Extreme Dance Competition held at the Surrey Bell Centre on May 4.

The competition was for school dance programs from both the public and private sector. Delta took top spot in senior jazz group medium, junior contemporary medium and large group variety. In addition to these wins, the senior jazz group placed first overall and the junior contemporary group placed third overall.

Two Delta schools win $25,000 awards to upgrade technology

As grade 12 student Allen Yieh steps-up onto the stage he is welcomed by hoots and hollers from his peers sitting in the Seaquam Secondary School auditorium. The cheers escalate as Yieh is presented with a $25,000 cheque from Staples Canada to be used for brand new computer lab equipment.

Ladner school's fish mural has global reach

A small fish-bearing slough may just be outside the windows of Neilson Grove Elementary school in Ladner, but a recent, student-led art project to help promote awareness of stream habitat preservation and protection has been given a global reach.

Students used a combination of traditional and high-tech methods when they created a mural of swimming salmon lining the school's fence adjacent to a section of the Millennium Trail and the slough.

Dear Parents and Guardians,

The Delta School District acknowledges that this school year has been challenging and would like to thank you for your patience and understanding. Throughout these difficult circumstances, teachers and staff have continued to focus on student success. Delta teachers have been assessing students and informally reporting progress, but the absence of report cards has been a concern for many parents and students.
