North Delta Secondary Science Expo Information Night

October 20, 2014

On Wednesday, October the 15th, North Delta Secondary School hosted the first-ever Science Expo Conference Fall Information Night for the Delta Region.

North Delta Secondary ran its first Science Expo Information Night on October 15. While science teachers Barb Jalandoon, and Favian Yee were on hand for assistance, this initiative was very much organized by a single Gr 12 student, Fiza Sandhu.

35 students packed into the NDSS library after school to hear intriguing presentations from speakers such as Sophie Laveri, and Jacqueline Huard who passionately spoke about their experiences and positions in the field of science. The students took part in various activities showing their enthusiasm for STEM, and increasing awareness of the Science Expo Conference.

Science Expo is a conference that is fairly new to BC. It is a youth run non-profit charity dedicated to providing youth with the opportunity to Enrich Empower, and Explore. It strives to create a network of youth, innovators and leaders who are passionate about Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM). Science Expo runs an Ambassador Program, which Fiza is part of, to provide students with a gist of the workshops, speakers and other activities held within the actual conference.
