It’s time for you to get involved with our Voice Your Vision contest!

At the beginning of this school year, the Delta School District launched a contest with the goal of providing our students a strong voice in the realization of our new vision. We asked the students, “How is the vision coming alive in your school?”

Last school year, the Delta School District embarked on a journey to create a new vision that would guide the district over the next decade. Teachers, parents, and students from all school district sites were involved in the process. The outcome is a comprehensive Vision, Mission and set of Values we are now working towards achieving.

Vision: To be a leading district for innovative teaching and learner success.

Mission: To enable all learners to succeed and contribute their full potential to the future.

Values: Caring, Respect, Responsibility, Community, Excellence.

Our student contest, titled ‘Voice Your Vision,’ was announced at the beginning of school in September. Since then, students throughout the district have been exploring our vision to determine how they are seeing it, or would like to see it, come alive in their schools. They are crafting entries any way they care to express themselves—video, audio, written, visual. Entries are being submitted online via the contest website www.voiceyourvision.ca.

The contest is being run online so the entire community of Delta can become involved with the process of giving our students a powerful voice in our vision. It's  the community that will vote online for their favourite entries and the top entries will go to a panel of judges who will determine the contest winners. The goal is to encourage people to watch, listen, read and look at the various entries so that the students’ perspectives of the vision are far reaching.

Although students have until Nov. 18 to submit their entries (hey students, get your entries in as soon as possible if you have not yet done so), voting has already begun. It started Nov. 1 and will continue until Dec. 9. One vote per person, per entry, per day is allowed, so visit voiceyourvision.ca daily to vote.

All of the contest information is available on the contest website, including links to more information about the Delta School District vision and descriptions of the wonderful contest prizes. A MacBook Pro laptop, an iPad, and tuition to Kwantlen Polytechnic University are all up for grabs.

Get involved with the ‘Voice Your Vision’ contest and support the Delta School District as we strive to become a leading district for innovative teaching and learner success.
