Congratulations to Delta’s 2010 Adult Graduates!
A Valedictory Programme on June 17 celebrated the secondary school graduation of 17 adult students from Delta School District’s Continuing Education branch, just some of the adults who completed their diploma requirements in Delta this past year.
Following diploma presentations by District Vice-Principal Alyson Caouette, Deputy Superintendent Garnet Ayres, and School Board Trustee Gordon Masi, Academic Achievement Awards were presented to Alba Hernandez, Vincent Yao, and Marissa Zagorsek. In addition, a Significant Achievement Award went to Calvin Peterson and Awards of Merit were given to Bhupinder Gandhi and Loveleen Janda. High School Completion courses are taught at various locations in different schedules and learning formats throughout the year by Delta Continuing Education, including teacher-led classroom instruction, self-paced teacher-assisted courses, and on-line courses.
All Canadian and Permanent Resident students can take their academic courses tuition-free. Also at the ceremony, awards recognizing citizenship and academic achievement were presented to Adult Foundations and High School Completion students. Bhupinder Gandhi received the 2010 Adult Basic Education Award, while citizenship awards were presented to Terry Allard, Nathaniel Allen, Shawn Bhatt, Eric Chadwick, Chao Ming Chen, Qiu Ping Chen, Travis Dickerson, Carmelino Garcia, Desirae Goldsby, Anne-Marie Havard, Samantha Hudson, Yun Di Ma, James Rha, and Shakeela Shaukat.
