ArtStretch - A Celebration of Myth, Magic and Fantasy!

Art Stretch is a program for elementary students who demonstrate very high artistic ability and an extraordinary passion for the Visual Arts. A small number of students from Grades 5-7 are selected each year for the Art Stretch program, based on the submission of a Portfolio. Sessions are held on Saturdays and the program includes a field trip to an art gallery as well as an exhibition/celebration of the young artists' work.

This year the ArtStretch Program celebrates Myth, Magic and Fantasy with a gallery exhibit of the student’s work running from Monday, April 19th through April 29th at the school board office located at 4585 Harvest Drive in Delta.

Come and experience this MYTHICAL exhibit of Delta's talented, young artists' creations. Their work has been inspired by World Mythologies and the work of Norval Morriseau's  "Woodland Art Movement". The exhibit is open to the public from Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

“I transmit astral plane harmonies through my brushes into the physical plane. These otherworld colours are reflected in the alphabet of nature, a grammar in which the symbols are plants, animals, birds, fishes, earth and sky.”

-Norval Morriseau, one of Canada’s most important artists, has been called the Picasso of the North.

Join District Superintendent, Garnet Ayres and other dignitaries at the opening ceremony on April 19th   from 4:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.  Following the opening commentaries, a reception will be held for students, parents and guests. Students will share their experiences and interpretations of this year’s theme, Myth, Magic and Fantasy.
