Help for Haiti at Hellings Elementary
Following the recent tragedy in Haiti, the desire to help in any way possible was immediately sparked throughout the Delta School District. Many schools instantly began focusing their efforts on ways to help, including giving of themselves and fundraising for those in need.
At Hellings Elementary, students have been involved in a fundraising event called 'Hellings for Haiti' where everyone has joined together to raise funds for relief to the survivors of the earthquake. As an incentive, the staff offered up themselves and duct tape to support the cause.
For every dollar raised towards help for Haiti, students were able to buy half a meter of duct tape which was used to duct tape the schools Princiapl, Mr. Jamieson to the gym wall.
If the students were successful in taping Mr. Jamieson to the wall and had more duct tape to be used, the Vice Principal, Mr. Muter would similarly be taped to the wall.
If there was extra tape still to be used following taping Mr. Muter to the wall, the school liaison officer, Constable Hilliard would also be taped to the wall.
In just one week, the staff and students at Hellings Elementary have raised $2800, represented by over a kilometer of duct tape and a Principal, a Vice Principal and a Delta Police Officer all firmly affixed to the wall.
Thank you Hellings Elementary, and all schools throughout the Delta School District for your generous support and collaborative efforts in helping those in Haiti.
