For Goodness Snakes! Annieville Elementary Raises Over $13,000 for Cops for Cancer!
Annieville Elementary School recently hosted Cops for Cancer, Tour de Valley riders for the eleventh consecutive year.  This event has been tremendously supported by the Annieville community and this year was certainly no exception.

Students throughout all grades initiated many activities to generate money to give to this worthy cause. Younger children donated their allowances, gave money from the tooth fairy and baked and sold items all summer.

Four of our boys gathered over a thousand dollars of pledges and had their heads shaved to honour the cause. Two girls who have been growing their hair for many years, had their hair cut short and donated it to Locks for Love, a group that creates wigs for people who have lost their own hair to cancer treatment.

Our organizing teacher and inspiration for this activity, Mrs. Sue Gordon, set a goal of $5,000.00 for the community. If the children reached the goal, the principal, Mrs. Jaye Sawatsky, agreed to be wrapped in a 4 metre long python. If the goal exceeded $7,500.00 three other teachers agreed to join Mrs. Sawatsky.

Annieville students with the assistance of the Annieville community raised an astounding $13,400.00!

Congratulations to the students for their hard work and generosity toward this worthy cause. A heart-felt thank you to Mrs. Sue Gordon, our inspirational Grade One teacher for her leadership in this important fundraiser.
