The Delta School District is currently accepting applications for the following position:
0.5 FTE Primary Low Incidence Resource Room Teacher - Annieville Elementary
TERM SPECIFIC - March 29 to June 30, 2010 or return of incumbent.
Specific days to be determined in consultation with the Principal.
The successful applicant will have:
- Demonstrated ability to program for and work with primary aged children with dependent and significant cognitive, physical and sensory disabilities. This would include personal care, lifting and transferring of students, and feeding.
- A knowledge of autistic spectrum disorder and the ability to develop and implement functional behavioural assessment and support plans.
- Ability to plan and work collegially with staff, parents and the school-based team.
- Effective communication skills.
Qualifications include:
- Special education diploma.
- Experience and training working with low incidence students with significant cognitive, physical and sensory needs.
- Experience and/or training working with primary-aged students.
