Visioning Our Future

Visioning our Future: Delta School District  - 2011

The single most important action a group can take to consciously construct a better future is to persistently uncover what gives life to its people and the organization when it is at its best, and to build on it. Nothing is more energizing or more powerful.” –

Professor David Cooperider, Case Reserve University, Appreciative Inquiry

Through engaging conversations around learning, and celebrating our past and current successes, the Delta School District community will be articulating our inspired and inclusive dream vision of the future for Delta School District that builds on our very best. The Visioning process in the Delta School district will take place from January 6th through mid-April 2011.

When people in an organization share a bold, fantastic, collectively-held, dream of the future, it draws everyone together in pursuit of that uplifting common purpose. The process of articulating our vision will create a sense of belonging for the school district community and help poise us for new realities in educational change. The results of the Visioning process will also create a compass for decision-making in the Delta School District and will be integrated into relevant planning processes thereafter.

To articulate our inspired and inclusive dream of the future that builds on our very best we will be seeking answers to three important focus questions: What is our noble purpose? What core values guide everything we do? In our boldest vision of the future, what might we be and do?

Meaningful opportunities will be created for all members of the Delta School, District community to participate in creating this compelling vision for the future of our schools: All Administrators, Managers, Teachers, Students, Parents, and Partners (PAC, DPAC, DYAC, CUPE and DTA, community leaders).

As you look through the Visioning our Future webpage you will find documents, videos and images taken or developed during the visioning process. More material will be added as we document various stages of the process. Visit the page to find further developments over the coming months.
